As stated by the artist, “My work is a form of story-telling. Inspired by the rich, high contrast illustrations found in illuminated texts, graphic novels, and children’s fairy tales, the often-whimsical imagery and characters that I create are meant to provoke a sense of nostalgia and familiarity within the viewer.”

Pruitt works in a variety of materials, with his focus centered on rendering large-scale, figurative portraits.
As stated by the artist, “Through dress and adornment, I juxtapose signs and symbols of Science and Science Fiction, Hip Hop, Afro-American culture and political struggles and African traditional cultures to reveal a radical past, present, and future.”
